Searls was arrested Thursday (June 30) night by the New Philadelphia Police, according to Harrison County Sheriff, Joe Myers. He believes it was a tip they received that led to his arrest.
Searls is the suspect in the Penn’s antique store robbery a week ago Tuesday. Searls fled not only the area but the state as well and made it as far as Charleston, Wv., according to Myers where he said Searls may have committed crimes there as well.
Myers stated that he is a suspect in a Guernsey County robbery but no others in the area of eastern Ohio.
Assistant Prosecutor, Jack Felgenhauer asked for a bond of not less than $1 million considering Searls’ lengthy criminal history, which dates back to his time in Florida. Searls is due back in court July 8th for a preliminary hearing.
