HARRSION COUNTY – Sheriff Ronald J. Myers of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office reports Andrew W. Zurek Jr. of Roby Street Adena has been arrested and charged with Felony Rape by force. The investigation began on February 23, 2016 when a 42 year old woman reported being sexually assaulted to the Adena Police Dept. and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. It was determined that the alleged assault took place in Harrison County.
Deputies from the Harrson County Sheriff’s Office responded to Adena and began their investigation. On Feb. 24, 2016 a search warrant was obtained from Judge Michelle Miller of the Jefferson County Common Pleas Court for the home of Andrew Zurek. Deputies seized evidence at the home of Zurek along with other physical evidence located at the scene of the crime along a rural road in Moorefield Township in Harrison County.
After completing their investigation Andrew Zurek Jr. was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of felony rape on February 25, 2016. The name of the alleged victim is not being released but Sheriff Myers reports she is an acquaintance of Zurek. Andrew Zurek Jr. appeared in Harrison County Court on February 26, 2016. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the Adena Police Dept.
Zurek, 51, appeared in Harrison County Court in front of Judge, Mark Beetham and requested public assistance. His bond was set at $500,000. He is due back in court on March 3, at 12:30 p.m.
