ATHENS TOWNSHIP – At around 1:30 p.m. a gray SUV tumbled over approximately three times and came to rest alongside Ohio 9 just outside of New Athens this afternoon (Monday – Dec. 7), according to Ohio State Patrol.
The SUV was traveling south when it took a turn coming around a bend too wide and fishtailed several times before finally rolling before coming to a stop, Trooper Johnson of the Ohio State Patrol estimated.
A 19 year-old female was driving in the one-car mishap and no other passengers were involved. The female was cited for failure to control as well as driving under suspension. The driver was wearing her seat belt and displayed only minor bruises and scrapes and was treated and released at the scene, according to Johnson. Traffic was halted in both directions for approximately 30 minutes or more.
