HARRISON COUNTY – On Monday, Aug. 17th, the Harrison County Democratic Central and Executive Committee unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing the passage of the Harrison Hills Bond Levy of 4.98 mils.
The committee is comprised of elected persons from each township in the district and the democrat county wide officeholders.
In addition the committee also encourages the Harrison Hills City School Board, if the levy is successful, to adopt policies and guidelines that would allow for local skilled trade men and women and our local products and materials to be utilized in the construction of the new facility.
In other business, tickets were handed out to members for the annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner to be held at Franklin Museum on October 15th at 6:30 p.m. A committee was selected to work with a caterer and for seating and table arrangements. Ted Strickland will be the keynote speaker with State Senator, Lou Gentile sharing remarks also.
Discussion was also held on the current vacancy in the County Coroner’s office. An acting coroner (Dr. Porsche Beetham) has been appointed by the county commissioners. The Committee took no action on the matter and will discuss again at next month’s meeting which will be held in conjunction with the Lakeland Democrat Women’s fall picnic on Sept. 14th at the Moorefield Township Community Park.
