danceCADIZ – The Second Annual Intertribal “Baby Bison Days Charity Pow Wow” will be held this Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, on Father’s Day weekend. The Pow Wow benefits the HARCATUS Food Pantry of Cadiz. For each person coming to the Pow Wow, they ask them to bring a nonperishable item as the entrance fee. The food gathered during the Pow Wow will go to HARCATUS to be distributed as needed throughout the tri-county area.

This year on June 20 the babies will be blessed just before the opening ceremony at 12 p.m. The Veterans will be saluted, so they are inviting all active military personnel, veterans, EMTs, fire departments, sheriff departments and police departments to please come take part in this salute.

Each year it is hoped this event will grow even more. There will be a veteran’s table area set up. This is a special acknowledgement from the Native Americans and the lead veteran will be Donny Carter Sr.

The master of ceremonies will be Chief Ed Spirit Horse along with his grandfather as arena director. Lead male dancer will be David Wanner, and lead lady dancer is Danelle Wanner. Dancers will be coming in from all over the tri-state area to dance to the drums. Lead drum is Sunset River, and guest drum will be Many Peoples. All drums, flutes and dancers are welcome.

The event will see a wonderful variety of vendors from American Native to more modern.

Rosemary Harber hand paints on leaves, feathers and baseballs. If you’re looking for a native dress, then Nancy Harper will have hand crafted shawls, stashes and jewelry. Some other vendors are Tony’s Tins, Knotty Pine Toys, Mary Kay and so much more. For the children, there is Native dancing, a coloring contest, face painting, and pony rides.

The sponsors for the raffle to raise money for HARCATUS are the Cleveland

Cavaliers, Franciscan University, Cleveland Browns, Jefferson Landmark,

Willow Wind Mystics, Cain Reality of East Springfield, Ohio, Riesbecks Food

Marts, Extreme Motorcycle, and William Host of Bowerston. A big thank you was given to Boss Bison Ranch for all their sponsorship and hosting. Thank you to Mountaineer Casino for offering the wonderful weekend package to be raffled off.
