CADIZ – Late Wednesday evening, Brenda Laibach was driving home from work when she noticed her dashboard smoking. Then she saw flames and attempted to put it out by splashing her soft drink on it. She tried something else and that didn’t work either. When the fire got worse that’s when she decided to flee and leave an envelope containing cash behind.
The money was lost but Laibach is alright. Rescue units from Cadiz and Hopedale responded to sirens that wailed for nearly five minutes in downtown Cadiz. She said her mother gave her the money for gas but she just shrugged her shoulders when asked how much was in the envelope. It obviously wasn’t important to her as much getting out safely as the car was still smoking quite a bit as she walked away to her ride home.
Laibach was uninjured and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
