ADENA – Karen Carothers said she’s been around dogs all her life and now she gets to take care of other people’s dogs, even if it’s just for grooming. But she says she’s had a lot of practice being taught by others as well as having gone to school for grooming.

“I started thinking about it in August and I just opened last Thursday,” Carothers said.

The business will be done from her house and it’s called, “Dogs N Suds.” She has a deck with steps in the back plus extra room for expanding if need be. “But that’s later down the road,” she said.

She has room in the back for washing the dogs where her husband put extra plumbing, and other arrangements for grooming as well.

Carothers wants people to know that her prices are very reasonable and lists on her flyers: “Great service with gentle grooming.” She added that she offers various grooming packages or just a wash if that’s what someone wants.

Carothers said she’s had some business and the results have been positive and people are calling for prices.

The address is 272 South Bridge Street in Adena. Dogs N Suds business hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Carothers says she would prefer by appointment, though, at (740) 546-4465.
