CADIZ – A driver employed by the Sal Chemical Company of Weirton, W.Va., smashed into a blue, two-door sedan holding a female driver and a young girl, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Thursday afternoon. The truck driver was traveling eastbound when he began to change into the left lane to allow a vehicle to exit from the U.S. 22 off-ramp. According to two witnesses, the sedan, heading north, attempted to make a left turn into the off-ramp. The truck driver, attempting to avoid the sedan, began to turn back towards the right lane when he struck the vehicle on its passenger side driving him and the car into an empty lot along U.S. 22.
The young girl was life-flighted to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, while the female driver was driven to Harrison Community Hospital, according to Cadiz Fire Chief, Leonard Merryman.
The accident is under further investigation and we will have more details as they develop.
