CADIZ – More changes are occurring at the Harrison County Prosecutor’s Office just one month after a new official was appointed.

Prosecutor Michael Washington was named in June to replace Shawn Hervey, who now serves as judge for the county Common Pleas Court General Division, and now Washington has added two new members to his staff. He recently announced  that Stephanie Russell-Ramos was tapped to become his assistant counselor while Kyra Brooks will act as office manager and paralegal. Washington informed county commissioners during their regular weekly session and said the new staff members, along with Victims Assistance Representative Carolyn Blackburn, will help keep the office running smoothly.

Russell-Ramos comes to the area by way of Tuscarawas County, where she was born and raised. She attended the University of Akron School of Law and has worked in the legal field for the past two years. She officially began her duties last Tuesday and told the News-Herald that she was excited about the opportunity.

“I’m really happy about it. I have done criminal defense work but now I’m playing for the other team. I’m looking forward to learning the process from the other side.”

“With her paralegal training, I think she will help bring the office together and make it more efficient,” Washington commented.
