JEWETT – Jewett-area resident Greg Tullis, pictured with daughter Kacey Phillips, recently took part in the Tough Mudder challenge in Mansfield, where they completed a difficult 10-mile obstacle course in slightly more than four hours. Tullis, 61, said he exercised two hours a day to train for the big day and 11,000 people participated.
Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-to-12-mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. They have attracted 700,000 participants worldwide and the main goal is to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project to aid military veterans. To date, it has garnered more than $5 million to help provide combat stress recovery programs, adaptive sports programs, benefits counseling and employment services.
