CADIZ – Harrison County Commissioners will see more than $1.3 million coming into the coffers after they approved lease agreements with Chesapeake Exploration. The Commissioners OK’d three separate agreements to lease 187 acres of land in Cadiz Township at the Harrison County Home, another 34 acres in the Archer Twp. area at the home and 40 acres at the county fairgrounds.

Commissioner Barbara Pincola explained the deals would generate $5,000 per acre with 18-percent gross royalties, with the Cadiz Twp. plan totaling $935,000, the Archer Twp. pact securing $170,000 and the fairgrounds agreement providing $200,000. All totaled, the figures equal $1,305,000 without the royalties. Some of the county’s lease funds have managed to help wipe the slate clean when it came to debts.

Leaders approved appropriations and transfers to close the books on the year, and among its transactions were $85 for examinations, $3,700 for postage and $50,000 for the commissioners’ other account. Additionally, $1,400 was transferred with another $2,182 was appropriated for future Memorial Day expenses. Officials further transferred $70,000 for the Government Center, another $23,328 to the clerk of court’s legal computer account and $99,000 into the magistrate’s line item.
