About 150 area residents turned out to preview plans during a Utica East Ohio Buckeye/M3 Midstream Open House at Scio Fire Hall on Nov. 8. People perused maps and spoke to company representatives about the multimillion-dollar complex that will span Harrison and Columbiana counties.

UEO Buckeye, which includes Chesapeake Energy, EV Energy Partners and Momentum (M3) Midstream, is investing $900 million over the next five years to create the Kensington cryogenic processing plant in Hanoverton, Columbiana County, and a fractionation plant known as the Harrison Hub outside Scio. The facilities will be connected by a natural gas gathering pipeline and a natural gas liquid (NGL) pipeline spanning some 35 miles to serve the developing Utica shale play in eastern Ohio.

At top, Scio resident and company representative John Harrison answers questions about the construct of the planned facility while Mike Matheson, environmental, safety and health manager, addresses security measures and other inquiries at his station.
