JEWETT – Two area post offices are the focus of upcoming meetings to determine whether they will close or alter business hours in the wake of declining mail volume and a billion-dollar deficit within the U.S. Postal Service.
Both sessions are set for Nov. 15 with the first at Scio Methodist Church at 5 p.m. and the latter at Jewett United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. to discuss results from surveys sent to local residents and answer any questions from the public. The post offices are being eyed for the POST Plan to possibly modify retail hours in order to match customer activity.
