CADIZ – Upgrades are coming to the Harrison County Courthouse to make facilities more handicapped accessible, but there will be some inconveniences in the meantime.

During last Wednesday’s meeting, county commissioners said more user-friendly public restrooms were being added on the lower level while the elevator would be repaired in the coming months.

Pictured above, Dennis and Derek Kinsey, of Kinsey Construction of Harrisville, Kinsey Construction Inc., of Harrisville, are preparing the lower level of the Harrison County Courthouse for handicapped-accessible restrooms. Two individual facilities are targeted near the elevator for both handicapped visitors and the general public. Officials said a need to replace the hallway floor has affected the $68,000 project and could add another $8,300 to the cost. The project is covered through the courthouse’s Capital Improvement Fund and could be completed in April with help from Smith Plumbing of Cadiz and D&E Electric, also of Harrisville.
