HOPEDALE – Gables Care Center in Hopedale celebrated the holiday season with several events including two Christmas parties and a New Year’s Eve pizza party. Entertainment for the “Singing Santa” party on Dec. 23 was none other than David Watkins, who has performed for the facility as “Elvis” for the Senior Camp Day at Sally Buffalo Park this past fall.

Santa was unable to sing up close and personal to more than just a few because the room was too crowded to get through. A wonderful show was followd by delicious finger foods, Christmas cookies and Holiday punch.

On Dec. 24th the “Big Guy”, Rich Stevens from Wintersville, returned to deliver gifts to the seventy plus residents living at the center, even taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit those who are room bound.

The New Year was celebrated with a pizza party in the afternoon, along with a performance by Roger and Bonnie Logsdon, singing gospel and oldies, as only they can do. Of course, everyone toasted in 2012 with sparkling grape juice and sang a heart felt rendition of “Auld Lang Syne”.

As 85-year-old Harriet Kerstetter put it, “I am blessed to have sang that song for a lot of new years!”
