Patty Webster (left) and Barb Zias (right) of New Cumberland, are shown above with the first quilt made from all local t-shirts for the Quilts for Heroes project. This quilt will be signed and tour around with project coordinator/founder Dirk Harkins as he makes his way around the Ohio Valley to road races and events.
It will then be on display at the Purple Heart Palace in Hopedale. The project recently donated its first quilt (made before the project was underway) to an injured Marine, and is happy with the response that Quilts for Heroes is receiving from the public.
Also pictured left are NRUMC member (L to R) Velma Gross, Quilts for Heroes founder Dirk Harkins, NRUMC member Bertie Garvey, Hopedale Legion Commander Don Atkins, Quilts for Heroes volunteer Chip Snyder, and Hopedale Legion Sargent in Arms Jay Beadling are shown with a few of the 219 t-shirts that the Ohio Valley District of United Methodist Women collected at their fall meeting for the Quilts for Heroes Project.
More information about the Quilts for Heroes Project, can be found in this weeks print edition of the Harrison News-Herald.
