SCIO – Scio natives Paul Matson, pictured above, and Herman Neimayer, left, are featured on the Active Senior page in this weeks print edition of the Harrison News-Herald.

Matson refuses to slow down despite a nearly debilitating stroke one year ago this week. He has been active as a musician, emcee and soundman extraordinaire during the Scio Fall Festival, Stumptown Steam Threshers Reunion and other local functions.

Neimayer also loves to keep busy. Not only does he still work every day at his family’s pharmacy and belong to many local civic organizations, but Herman also manages many flowerbeds, barrels, and gardens throughout his hometown. And by the way, Herman is preparing for his 89th birthday in a few weeks. He is pictured here near the town’s covered bridge with the newest addition to his flowers along the Conotton Creek Trail, a beautiful rose garden.
