CADIZ – One Harrison County resident suggested leaders take more of a watchdog stance in detracting delinquent taxes, especially through the enforcement of building permits.

Green Township resident Gary Voich questioned county commissioners recently about whether a close eye was kept on properties in order to collect taxes, saying it would help bring some much-needed money back to the county.

“I came up to see how people get a permit to build,” said Voich. “How does the county go about finding out if they have a permit?”

Voich claimed some people could erect a structure without reporting it and asked what the county did in that instance.
