The newly implemented Refining Exceptional Ability and Potential (REAP) program is helping students excel academically at Harrison Hills City Schools. Joan Fisher, gifted intervention specialist with Harrison Hills Jr./Sr. High School, oversees 60 pupils in the upper grades while Donna Carpenter and Donnie Madzia respectively help with younger classes at Harrison North and Harrison East Elementary schools. Fisher is pictured with eighth-grader Christal Shoemaker and seventh-graders Grace Smith and Scott Forrester, who recently participated in the Power of the Pen creative writing competition. Smith earned fourth place overall out of 110 participants.
Find out more about the gifted program in this weeks print edition of the Harrison News-Herald.
