CADIZ – The Harrison County Community Improvement Corp. and Blackie and Sons Excavating were joint recipients of the Third Annual Cadiz Community Pride Award. Their participation in the federally funded Neighborhood Stabilization Program to remove dilapidated structures helped improve properties around the village. Pictured, top are Jodi Hennis and Mary Ellen Haney of the county CIC, which obtained the $140,000 grant. Below, Cadiz Council President Curt Crawshaw is pictured with Rich Heavilin, owner of Blackie and Sons, and Councilman Dan Ossman. Heavilin was praised for the job his firm had done. He noted they had razed roughly 200 structures since 1970. Crawshaw and Ossman are village property committee members.
