HOPEDALE – Gables Care Center honored their resident Veterans on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11 with a special ceremony including American Legion Post 682 from Hopedale. Commander Donnie Adkins along with Jay Beadling, Sergeant of Arms, and the other post members delivered flags to the men and conducted the gun salute ceremony. Jack Adkins accompanied the ceremony with playing “Taps” on the bugle.
The Veterans were presented Certificates Of Appreciation from the facility for their service to the United States military during varying times of war and peace.
World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, the Seven Day War and stateside service were all represented. The proud vets displayed many medals, including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Refreshments were served and entertainment by Rick Pastre was enjoyed following the program. Activity Director, Marilyn Thompson, asked for a special “thank you” to go to the Post for their dedication in coming to the facility each year.
