CADIZ – First-grade students at Harrison Westgate Elementary School in Cadiz visited the Coal Museum at the Puskarich Library on June 2.

They were shown the movie “In Coal Country” at the coal theater and took part in a skit called “How Coal Was Formed.” Each group took turns on stage using several props for the play.

Robert Stewart gave the children a tour of the Coal Museum and told many interesting facts and information about the coalmines. Afterwards, Children’s Librarian Corky Stonebraker read a story about coal formation and the students received a small piece of coal as a souvenir of their field trip.

Pictured viewing displays are students Kelsi Johnson and Shae Saffell, in front, and Rayla Jones and Abbi Kelley in back. Photo provided
